Flutewise Party Challenge Videos Wrong
Everyone was challenged to play a piece incorrectly and then perfectly. How funny are these?
Max City Life 3 by Hart. I just love his audience
I would never have guessed the original from the pile up of notes and rhythms you started with. It was as if you emptied a bag full of notes on the floor and started playing them at random. I really enjoyed the actual melody as it had a wonderful jazzy bounce to it. Well played. Jerry
Abbie - So Wrong and the So Right
I couldn’t work out what was happening from the initial jumble of notes you played. I think you did really well to play it so badly. When you played the right written version, it all made sense and I caught the jazzy licks as they should be played. Neat playing. Nice work. Well done. Jerry
Matilda
Matilda wrote: “I thought that my audience could be upside down 🙃. I played Joseph's Dreams properly and then for the wrong part, I played it with B Naturals instead of B flats and F sharps instead of F Naturals!”
An upside down audience. Well, that’s another first for Flutewise Matilda!!! What a mess! All sharps and naturals all over the place. And then you played it beautifully. What a great tune. You are getting very good at this. Well done. Jerry
Sophie - murdering Dany Boy then playing it like an angel
We all need a floating unicorn in the room. Beautiful cat, noted too. Should be on television earning money from cat food adverts. You play with such a full and sweet tone Sophie, even when you are playing such utter rubbish. And then … WOW! You have an amazing sound and you express yourself through your tone so well. I have an adult Irish pupil who would have loved your performance. As indeed did I! Jerry
Neo combining 5 with the Wrong Performance. His animals accompanying him made me laugh so much!
I loved the jerky rhythms and your fragmentary melody at the start. The snippet of melody at the end had a nice outline to it.
In your wrong performance, you started off badly and it kind of went down-hill from there. Your accompanists needs to do some scales and arpeggios and develop a sense of, eh ……. Music. What a relief to hear the hedgehog playing sense. Thanks for putting on a great show. Jerry
Emme - another amazingly good performance preceded by something shocking!
I sit down and boot up. What am I going to hear today? High expectation hangs heavily in the air. There is a hush in the auditorium (my front room). A small green crocodile sits guard on the window sill. The flutist takes the stage and … and like Caliban’s island, the ether is full of strange sounds and sour airs, that give fright and hurt my ear. Then I wake from the dream. Emme recomposes herself and … She was only kidding. She can play the flute. Of course she can. And gives a stellar performance. Well done on another great performance and fun video, Emme. Jerry
Paloma - So Wrong then So Right
I really enjoyed your performance of two halves, Paloma. I have to say that the wrong concert still sounded really good. I think you created a wonderful dotted-rhythm variation on the theme by accident! However, it was very wrong. I didn’t recognise the piece until you played the right version. You pay such concentrated attention to the detail. Always a good sign in a young flutist. I think the composer would enjoy your interpretation. As I did! Great work. Jerry
Anna - So wrong/so right
That really was so wrong, Anna. And then so right. The first performance might have been distorted but you played it so convincingly. It’s difficult to play a wrong version consistently. I liked the strong and clean articulation you put into the right performance. It really drove the music forward. Well done. Jerry
